My Life As A Princess

Okay, I'm not really a princess but it's definitely a close call. This blog is a product of love. Everybody should know about the cool things in life and sometimes also about the not-so-cool.

Drinks With An Attitude

Saturday night was a night for drinks with Vanessa, the multi-talented hotness on sturdy legs and great hair. She's single and ready to mingle so we headed to a place popular for attracting single people. Tangier is a 2 in 1 pack: During the day it serves as a restaurant and on the evenings it transforms into an exotic club. It caters to all personalities with a dining area, a lounge and a patio, snack, bars and on the weekends, a small dance floor. The only flaw to our fabulous Saturday night was that the bartenders had a horrible attitude and it took us forever to get our drinks.

"While booths in the dining room are cozy, the real intimate vibe can found in the lounge, which is outfitted in exotic tapestries, ornate chandeliers and sofas with colorful silk throw pillows".

Sad & Beautiful

My sister, Meli and I visited the Getty Museum on Saturday. We had reservations to the Getty Villa but with the rain and the fact that I can never seem to leave my castle on time, halfway to point B we realized we'd never make it so we exited the freeway right on time to make it to our alternate choice.

It turned out to be perfect! In recent acquisitions they had an exhibit by 4 mid-career American photographers who share a commitment to observing the people and places that define their community. Mary Ellen Mark's work was the most appealing to me, she photographs people outside America's mainstream culture and on this particular series she documents the phenomenon of adolescents who left their family and home in favor of life on the streets. Every picture has a story behind it and having the visual paired up with the reality made it fascinating.

This exhibit will run through February 4th. You don't have much time so go see it now.

"I wasn't even thinking about running away or nothin'. But my dad told me that if I ever got caught selling pot, never come home 'cause he'd kill me. So when it all came down, I just said, 'oh, well'." RAT

Sexy Babe, An Evening of Pretty.

Every 4 to 6 weeks I religiously visit my stylist. Throughout the years, she's moved from salon to salon trying to make the best fit and I have followed her like a love-stricken pup. She's finally found the perfect match for her skills and talent and has made M2Studio her home.

My visit yesterday consisted of a trim, color and scalp treatment. We chatted; I got to know the lovely girls that work there and had an awesome 3 hours of beauty paradise. This place has a great vibe, they really listen to your needs and work hard at giving you what you want. I've experienced that you tell your stylist what you want and they give you what they think you should have, that's so not the case with M2 Studio Salon & Spa. They rock!

I'm ready for my next visit, I actually can't wait! For now, call them, ask for Vanessa and thank me later.

*They're located in Toluca Lake by all the studios, on the corner of Riverside & Pass. Telephone Number: 818.843.0231.

When You Do A Lot, Many Stories Follow.

Thursday Night - Dimples

My lovely friend Nat turned 24 and to celebrate like rock stars we headed out to Dimples in Burbank, the place where you can try out your luck with the mic and do your best singer impersonation. According to research it was the first karaoke establishment, the food is far from great, the drinks are average yet cheap and the main attraction is definitely the karaoke. If it's your first time on the mic, they record your performance and give you a DVD to take home. Fun times!

Friday Night - Fred's 62

My BFF came back from her holiday vacation and with a lot of catching up to do we decided to grab a snack and caffeine at one of my favorite spots in LA.

Fred's 62, located in Los Feliz, is a 24-hour, edgy 1950's style dinner that serves comfort food with a twist, each plate has its own wacky name on the menu and the waiters wear shirts with conspicuous messages. It's really the best place for a late-night/after-the-club bite to eat.

Saturday Afternoon - Lunch & Shop

Mi sister and I met with L for lunch. There's a new man in her life and the obligatory status report was required. We went to Chadaka Thai. Yummy as always. Afterwards, I was picked-up by Meli, destination: Santa Monica.

She raved about this awesome store that was having an awesome sale, when I got there, I realized it was Zara, born in Spain, spread around the world, a 3-level heaven for world-trend affordable fashion.

Saturday Evening - Drinks Around Town

The plan was to go to Pasadena, get some drinks and call it an early night. Instead, we ended up at out local Elephant Bar, sipping on Mojitos and talking about relationships, politics and future plans. Aren't we exciting?

Sunday - Mellow, Mellow... Really Mellow?

I've missed my T so much. We kept making plans of getting together for food or drinks, so we finally made room for both. We met at Octopus for sushi and pomegranate martinis (which by the way are incredible) and by the end of our date, we had to consider taking a cab home, those martinis are really strong! There's nothing better than a mid-day buzz with a great friend.

Children of Men

Set in London in the year 2027, women have become infertile and all hope is lost. The world has come to total chaos and there's nothing to look forward to until a pregnant girl is discovered and bringing her to safety becomes the number one priority.

The film is based on a novel by British writer P.D. James, directed by Alfonso Cuaron and a great cast including: Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Michael Caine. It's a scary view of our future, done in a way where you can almost feel the atrocities brought upon by civil war and despair. I loved Michael Caine's character, every time he was on screen, the hardships were briefly forgotten.

Children of Men a great film. Engaging, touching and captivating. Don't miss it on the big screen.

Oh My! You're Delicious, Camilo!

Camilo's in Eagle Rock is like the pirate's hidden treasure. What's the best part about it? That I found it!

It started out as a catering company on York Boulevard in Highland Park with a small café attached in the back, and in no time, the café had outgrown its venue and owners Camilo and Amelia Gonzalez moved their operations to a large building smack on Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock.

I was there for dinner but I've heard they're famous for their delicious breakfasts. I'm only going to say my food was incredibly delectable, the service was prompt and the locale is adorable.

Here are some reviews:

"When our food arrived, all of us just put fork to plate and between sounds like 'Mmmmm...' ate our food and barely even made eye contact with each other! It was amazing."

"This is one of the best places I've eaten at... I love the style of the place, I love the food there."

Have You Scene It?

Instead of going out, I decided to have friends over for a couple of rounds of Poker, so our Friday night turned into game night and instead of Poker we ended up playing Scene It. It’s a great game; the original version is an interactive trivia game that quizzes you on your knowledge of pop culture in movies and television. We played 3 rounds, laughed ‘till out of breath and had a great time. Buy it, play it and enjoy!
