My Life As A Princess

Okay, I'm not really a princess but it's definitely a close call. This blog is a product of love. Everybody should know about the cool things in life and sometimes also about the not-so-cool.

Fresh Coolness and The Plastics... Partying in Hollywood

The need to party comes to me by stages. There are long periods of time when all I want to do is to stay at home, watching movie rentals from the comfort of my bed (boyfriend by my side) not wanting to dress up, deal with the world or with the high maintenance LA party scene. There are times when dinner and a movie or joining our friends at a local bar sounds like an excellent idea, keeping things simple without the fuss of lines at nightclubs or dress-to-impress needs, but then it happens and as an explosion, the need to party in Hollywood hits me at full force and Hollywood Boulevard becomes the place to be, grinning from afar, waiting for me.

The Cool Gang

With Daria here from Boston, visiting for a couple of days, Tasp and I decided that a girls night out was the perfect thing to do and what better place for that than Hollywood.

We started out at Star Shoes, described by LA.com as ‘a boutique of a club among Hollywood’s disco malls’, the place just screams Hollywood-Indie. It’s one of my favorite spots to mingle with friends and escape from mainstream beats and pretentious crowds. Afterwards, we headed to Tokio, it was my first time there and I was impressed by its awesomeness. The place is very low-key, decorated by lanterns, red leather couches and bamboo fixtures that divided the place into smaller spaces. Saturday nights are guest-list only but being a group of 5 hot girls guaranteed our entry. We jammed to the fusion of old-school hip-hop and modern beats in a crowd full of gorgeous babes, true beauties and a guy wearing a Santa hat, something only acceptable in Hollywood.

The Plastics

I had dinner with my girl friends last night and soon after we decided to hit one of Hollywood's Wednesday parties. We went to Privilege in West Hollywood, the all white majestic spot in the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Crescent Heights. It was a guest list only party but when you know someone who knows someone names don't matter anymore so we found ourselves surrounded by the snobby, desperate to be trendy Hollywood crowd. For a club, the place is beautiful, all white, impeccable and breathtaking, however, the drinks were ridiculously expensive and the music was average. Beautiful people were abundant but painstakingly involved with themselves (made me wonder if they in fact have a good time), nevertheless, amusing in their ways, an enjoyable spectacle. We danced and sipped our drinks happily and departed at 1am, with a smirk and a self-pat in the back because we’re pretty, smart and far from shallow.
